The opportunity, support and ambition to achieve

Key contact

Lorna Melton-Scott

Lorna is Head of HR, helping to make TFT a great place to work where everybody can succeed and perform to their best. Lorna supports people with training, development, mentorship and more, for those who have just joined or been here for years.

What's important to us?

Creating a better built environment by being ambitious, open and supportive of one another.

Wellbeing

Wellbeing is central to the work we do. Our comprehensive benefits and policies put your wellbeing first, and beyond those we take a personal approach to the physical, mental and emotional health of each member of our team.

Opportunities

We are ambitious with our work, and we invest in your ambitions too. At TFT you’ll be involved with exciting projects, landmark buildings and major client challenges around the UK and Europe. From day one, you’ll be sponsored to learn, practice, and expand your knowledge in the best way for you.

Leading with experience

We are industry thought-leaders, contributing guidance on policy and best practice. We research and discuss issues impacting our work, and join with others to improve the outlook for more valuable, resilient and sustainable buildings. Within our team and across our industry we seek to challenge our clients and our peers to build a better future together.

Sharing

TFT has a network of 12 regional hubs around the UK, with more than 200 people working across a diverse range of client challenges. Our success is the result of a collaborative culture; we work together to achieve. That starts with technology enabling people to work from anywhere, along with a welcoming and sociable culture in each of our offices for colleagues, clients and visitors. It also extends to our charitable efforts, sporting clubs and events, or simply bringing the team together in celebration.

Giving back

Over the years TFT has supported many communities from local neighbours to professional peers for mental wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and ensuring the best sustainable impact with our work. As a certified B Corp, we aim to make a positive impact in everything we do, from pro bono work, annual volunteer day, or working closely with our charity partner, LandAid supporting them on their mission to help end youth homelessness.

What does B Corp mean to us?

As we grow, so does our impact on the world. B Corp helps us measure that impact holistically. Getting certified meant assessing the huge impact of our work improving the built environment, but it also accounted for our employee support, social value contributions, supply chain management, environmental footprint and much more.

We’re proud to have our B Corp badge, and we don’t take it for granted: it’s proof that our team aspires to be better and to help our industry do better too.

You can keep up with our journey by reading our B Impact Report and our latest news.

What's the team like?

We value originality, diversity, and confidence in our team, backed up by a collaborative culture for sharing knowledge and supporting one another. We believe this empowers everybody to play their part in delivering high-performing buildings.

With tomorrow's challenges and opportunities clear to see, TFT provides our clients with a passionate, collaborative team who bring the skills and technical insight to meet them.

How is work?

In TFT, there is a healthy working relationship within the sectors with partners, directors, etc. There is an open line of communication between employees and management.

TFT facilitates team building activities and after works events to build better relationships with co-workers as well as encourages employees to volunteer for charities or causes close to their hearts. Fatimah Abarshi
Principal Designer

Within my first week of placement, I went to several site visits, my first day on the job my car broke down and the second day I got stuck up a cherry picker!

But the TFT colleagues I was assisting looked out for me and I still very much enjoyed my work experience which was the main reason I accepted the offer of a full-time graduate position which I am currently in! I have now enrolled and am undertaking my APC. I really enjoy working at TFT, everyone is very approachable and I really appreciate how the company has the welfare of their staff at the forefront!

Ellie Doyle
Graduate Building Surveyor

TFT is an exceptional place to work… My 15+ years here should provide testimony to that!

The combination of great colleagues, technically varied work streams, sound client base and work-life balance, provides TFT with its unique identity. The real estate industry is always evolving and challenging so the structure that TFT has established, to move with the demanding pace and challenges whilst still remaining at the forefront of the industry is a testament!

Rohit Chauhan
Director

Since joining TFT, I have been able to work on a number of exciting projects in central London locations and around the UK.

Sustainability is key service line and our aim is to reduce the environmental impact of construction projects and creating more liveable and functional environments for future occupants. I have been able to work collaboratively with various teams and high-profile that have ambitious sustainability goals for their portfolios and projects, which has been very exciting! One of the main things I value working at TFT is that our management are very approachable, open for suggestions and we can utilise our collective knowledge and expertise to influence the way the business develops. All this makes working at TFT inspiring and enjoyable!

Izabela Pritchett
Associate for Sustainability

When I first joined TFT, three years ago, I was impressed by how welcoming people were and how the multidisciplinary character of TFT enabled people to share knowledge and their experiences.

With colleagues based across the UK in our several offices and with Covid giving the option to work more from home, I still very much feel part of the company and a team thanks to our internal employee platform that has all the latest office news and updates, any team building activities to supporting our chosen charities. The marketing and admin team have done a great job to make sure that the TFT values are carried through in what we do!

Margherita Pende
Associate Director

Having worked in other companies prior to joining TFT, as soon as I joined, I knew the dynamics here were totally different.

I joined TFT during the Covid-19 pandemic during lockdown and notwithstanding that, I was greeted with the warmest of welcomes. With Covid teaching many of us that there is more to life than work, TFT has managed to provide the right work life balance. I'm now Chartered Surveyor and the support during my APC route has been incredible. If you need a CPD, you will get it, if you need mocks and general sessions, you will get it and most importantly if you need experience, you WILL get it! If you’re driven, have aspirations and want a place to grow then you will achieve that here at TFT!

How will I progress at TFT?

Your success is our success too, so we tailor your career development plans for your goals. You’ll work alongside the best specialists in their fields, and you’ll have access to our in-house learning systems, peer-to-peer mentoring, and relationships with RICS, CIBSE and more for professional qualifications.

Progression is based on performance and not time served. With so much knowledge and experience around you, quick progression is yours to achieve.

What support will I get at TFT?

While we support you to succeed professionally, we are careful to balance our work with the other things that make working life great, like volunteering, taking on sporting challenges, and socialising with your team and with our friends across the industry.

We are here for you in tough times too, ready to help you deal with life’s surprises with full support to work your way. Mental Health & Grief First Aiders across our offices can provide confidential support in moments of crisis, while strong ties to RICS LionHeart (the industry’s mental health charity), can offer support at any time for any need.

Does TFT offer hybrid roles?

Nearly every role at TFT combines office-based working and remote working too. We have offices all around the UK because we believe they are essential for us to connect as a team, so we use them as much as possible, while still providing the scope to work from home, from site, with clients and around travel.

Will TFT support me in changing my career?

We’ve supported members of our team into alternative roles through training and degree sponsorship. If you’ve got a passion for something new, we can help you too.

If you’re interested in joining us to begin a new career in one of our specialisms, our graduate, trainee and apprenticeship routes could be perfect for you.

As a graduate/apprentice, what training is available to me?

We support all graduates and apprentices through their respective Assessment of Professional Competency (APC) programmes, leading you to chartership from day one.

That means a specific training programme for grads, trainees and apprentices to enable you to be the best you can be in your role. You will have every opportunity to excel in the best way for you, and to see the best of your chosen profession.
