Friars Walk, Lewes is a mixed use scheme which includes a new 61 bed hotel let to Premier Inn and 14,000sq ft of restaurant and retail space. It has been developed under a JCT 2011 Design and Build Contract.
The site had been partially cleared and TFT was appointed to provide a comprehensive appraisal of the scheme and monitor its subsequent development. Local vernacular construction methods are acknowledged through the use of traditional brickwork, feature flint and tile hung elevations. The hotel is located on the first and second floors with restaurants and retail space at ground floor level, having external terraces to the rear. A green roof and a section of green wall are incorporated.
Our initial appraisal was structured to indicate potential areas of risk, identify threats to the delivery of the project and provide a probability ranking system for each element of the development. The building has been constructed to BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard with A rated EPCs throughout.
